Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much does a pre-engineered Star Building cost landed and installed in Nassau?
    • We get this question a lot.  If you are thinking about building and have a general idea of your layout, contact us and we will be more than happy to provide you with a ballpark figure.  The larger your building, the lower the per square foot cost.  Alternatively, the more complex your building, the higher your per square foot cost.  A simple warehouse design for a single floor can cost anywhere from under $15 to over $35 per square foot installed in Nassau.
  • Aren't steel buildings ugly?
    • Today's steel buildings aren't the same as the ones built even 10 years ago.  Advances in computers have allowed complex designs to be easily calculated and manufactured.  New coatings allow for a myriad of colors ranging from snow white to bright red to blues, browns, and more!  Mixing steel construction with traditional building practices (such as masonry) allows for a steel building design to fit in almost anywhere!  Many accessories are available to help you customize the final look of your building without sacrificing performance.
  • Can you build Star Buildings in the Family Islands?
    • Certainly!  Our services are available throughout the Bahamas.
  • Is the price of steel set when I get a bid?
    • Unfortunately not! The price of steel has increased rapidly in the past year due to emerging markets (such as China) increasing demand and market price. The graph below shows the price of raw scrap material over the past year:

The only way to set the price of your building is to secure your order as soon as possible. Most of the major steel companies are only holding prices for 30 days or less, and only with a downpayment. Also adding to today's costs are shipping cost increases due to fuel price increases.
